  • Collective Action against Drought Mitigation in Padampur Subdivision of Bargarh District:

      The project was formulated with a vision to mitigate drought by checking distress migration and ensuring food security in Padampur subdivision. The objective of the project include to empower women to enable them greater participation in decision-making processes within their community governance system and family; ensure food, health  care and education rights of  Dalit and Tribal people including women and children; reduce distress migration by organizing migrants & ensuring enforcement of labour laws; ensure access and control over resources by the poor for their livelihood and dignity; mobilize the poorest to facilitate the  participatory planning through the LokYojana for need-based implementation, review and reflection; build strong people’s organizations with participation of poor and vulnerable community at different level; consolidate the control of small and marginal farmers over traditional knowledge and further sustainable practices of natural resource management and agriculture; and prepare an inclusive community with respect for rights, dignity  and identity of PLHAs, Dalits and Tribals in the intervention area.

TYS is the lead partner of the consortium for implementation of the project. The project is being implemented with a consortium of 06 Community based Organisations (CBOs) of Bargarh district.

  • Food Security through organic farming: TYS has been promoting organic farming among 800 farmers, 1273 acres, in 49 villages of Padampur, Paikmal, Gaisilate of Bargarh district since last 5 years with financial & technical support to the farmers. Farmers have been using indigenous seeds, compost, vermin compost, Jibanruta, Bijamruta, Brahmashtra like homemade inputs in the crop fields as bio-fertilizers and pest control measures. Further, farmers of 8 villages namely Sadanandpur, Halandadr of Paikmal block and Ramedega, Banjhapali, Sarasmal, Biripali, Barbhata, Khuntpali in Padampurblockare encouraged and supported as indigenous paddy, pulses and millets seeds producer villages in these 2 blocks.till date, training has been given to the 253 farmers on the natural ways of pest control and management. They are working as the advanced farmers of the village and guiding other farmers too.

 

  • Towards ensuring Access to Productive Resources for Marginalized Women Farmers:The project was formulated with the objective to provide economic support to women farmers through direct provision of agricultural support services; build women’s capacities for effective usage of the services provided; advocate for policy/ legislative frameworks that actively promote women’s farmer’s access to resources; and build, or strengthen, networks and movements to strengthen demand for rights of women farmers. For this purpose, altogether 206 farmers from 30 Villages were selected. Out of 206 farmers 123 are women farmers. A total of 172 farmers have opted for millet based mixed cropping and another 34 farmers have opted to adopt traditional rice cultivation with organic inputs only. Major activities include Orientation in the villages, Experience sharing workshops, Seed   procurement and distribution, capacity building etc.

 

  • Ensuring access to sustainable agriculture for farmers: The project is being implemented with the objective to promote the Small and marginal farmers to use indigenous seeds and organic manure to empowered to protest the faulty agro-polices and become self-reliant and self-dependent. Major activities includes Training on seeds purity maintain, conservation and treatment, Millets cultivation, Training on soil preparation and treatment, Mixed farming, Farmers to farmers sharing workshop, Krushaksangathan meeting, Alliance building among state &national level organizations on farmer’s rights, Training on organic manure and pest management Deshichasisammilani (indegeneous farmers’ fair) etc.
